"Self-defense is not just a set of techniques, it's a state of mind that begins with the belief that you are worth defending” -Rorion Gracie.
The most apparent motivation for realizing self-defense is the power to guard yourself from hurt. Self-defense strategies empower you to remain watchful and protect yourself against physical abuse or bullying, employing styles such as judo, karate, krav maga, jiu-jitsu, and more.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art and is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency. Women Empowerment Cell @GITAM, Visakhapatnam, has organized a workshop for all the students, teaching and non-teaching staff to take part in this exciting two-day workshop on self-defense.
Ms. Prabsharan Kaur, trainer and founder of the NGO Nari Suraksha Foundation was the resource person and taught the Krav Maga techniques and the required skills to empower and protect themselves. This workshop was conducted on the 14th and 15th of September 2023. The number of participants is restricted to 250. Many of the participants learned techniques and the mindset and different laws that protect women in cases of violence and domestic abuse. Participants found the workshop to be unique and very useful in protecting themselves in everyday life.
